I used this book to help me as a guide to read “A brief history of time”。 Done the job。 I would recommend anyone who has no or minimal background of physics or astronomy to read this first before dwelling into “A brief history of time”。

Very thought provoking。 It feels good to digest and understand the physics concepts covered in this book。 Although I wouldn't say that much of the information covered is practical to our everyday lives （unless you're an aspiring physicist）， the book does teach some useful lessons about how scientific theories are developed and the value of being able to change one's perception of things to fit observations。Overall， a great book for understanding the scientific process that features excellent exp Very thought provoking。 It feels good to digest and understand the physics concepts covered in this book。 Although I wouldn't say that much of the information covered is practical to our everyday lives （unless you're an aspiring physicist）， the book does teach some useful lessons about how scientific theories are developed and the value of being able to change one's perception of things to fit observations。Overall， a great book for understanding the scientific process that features excellent explanations of advanced physics concepts。 4 stars because it got boring and resembled a pseudo-textbook in later chapters。 。。。more

A Briefer History of Time is about as well-written and clear an explanation of astronomy and physics as possible。 Even if a reader like me cannot grasp everything in the book， the authors still manage to get the main points across， and they also convey a sense of cosmic awe in doing so。 The only part of the book that irks me is Hawking's constant need to bring up God。 Every time he does this， he reveals a really shallow understanding of spirituality， theology， or anything that does not have its A Briefer History of Time is about as well-written and clear an explanation of astronomy and physics as possible。 Even if a reader like me cannot grasp everything in the book， the authors still manage to get the main points across， and they also convey a sense of cosmic awe in doing so。 The only part of the book that irks me is Hawking's constant need to bring up God。 Every time he does this， he reveals a really shallow understanding of spirituality， theology， or anything that does not have its basis solely in the material world。 I suppose this is to be expected， seeing as A Briefer History of Time came out in 2005， at the height of New Atheism。 。。。more

This definitely achieves its purpose: a very basic， accessible into to cosmology and physics。 There’s some very nice humility in this version as well that admits where we don’t know answers yet and does a very balanced job to not opine， but present the facts。 It’s a good read for anyone not already familiar with the basics of modern physics （though this book will age poorly as time goes on with new findings）。

In comparison to A Brief History of Tine this book seems to explain & elaborate on the fascinating subjects in the original。 I listened & noticed the narrator is new。 Fun to listen while reading as there’s over 30 pictures in the book。 There’s current information like the search for a unified theory & string theory。 This is a book you should have on your shelf。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
